Government development payments up 60 percent

The Minister of Economy says that since the beginning of this year, the ministry has paid 33 thousand billion tomans in form of development budget, adding: 25 thousand billion tomans was paid during the last one hundred days, showing a 60 growth compared to the same period last year.

(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- According to the law, we are obliged to allocate 34.5 trillion tomans this year, which we have already spent more than 24 trillion tomans, most of which was spent on development budget.

Saying that we paid more than 32 trillion tomans of our debts in form of treasury bills or in cash, he stated: The government debt has fallen by 5% compared to the same period last year.

During the last hundred days, a foreign investment agreement worth $5.4 billion has been reached, which with $23 billion in financing, foreign resources reach about $28 billion.

In the past two years, we have transferred economic units just to the real private sector, and now they are more productive and profitable with these transfers, Karbassian noted.

In another part of his speech, the minister said that those who claim smuggling is being done via official sites should prove their claim.

Saying that we should not portray the state of the business cycle badly, he stated: For about a year and a half the world has ranked us the first in dealing with smuggling, but some in the country do not want to accept that.

Karbassian further said false statistics on smuggling of goods are being published in the country, adding: The Customs Administration will provide the necessary information.

Following the emphasis of the Supreme Leader in the beginning of the year on the deployment of high-speed mechanized inspection equipment for customs, we have now provided the equipment in the country, he stressed.

In another part of his speech, Karbassian pointed out that the President has announced private and public priorities.
