Asgari emphasized the importance of better coordination among government agencies during periods of stress. During a recent 12‑day conflict, he stated that facilitative directives helped accelerate customs clearance and sustain trade flows.
Over the past year, Iran’s Customs received 108 directives from various agencies, most of them designed to ease trade.
The only notable restriction, a ban on rice imports, has since been lifted. In the automotive sector, rules are being revised, and vehicle clearance is underway.
The customs chief insists that the overall regulatory stance is now positive. He argues that the shift towards facilitation reflects more effective inter‑agency cooperation and signals a modest improvement in Iran’s economic climate.
