Tejarat Bank, Iran Customs Authority Move to Expand Strategic Cooperation

TEHRAN — Tejarat Bank has expressed its readiness to develop new financial solutions to facilitate customs and trade processes in Iran, as the bank and the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) move to broaden strategic cooperation.

The commitment was made during a meeting between Tejarat Bank CEO Hadi Akhlaqi and Foroud Asgari, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.

Akhlaqi said the bank is pursuing the development of innovative financial services and products tailored to the needs of different business sectors. He added that Tejarat Bank intends to leverage its capabilities in credit services, foreign-exchange operations, supply-chain finance, and other modern banking services to support the expansion of business activity across various sectors.

He also highlighted the potential of Productive Credit Guarantee (GAM) Certificates, securities, and electronic bills of exchange as financing instruments for businesses.

GAM securities are designed to provide working-capital financing for economic enterprises and can be traded in Iran’s money and capital markets. Akhlaqi said Tejarat Bank seeks to act as an intermediary in issuing GAM securities and making them available to producers and businesses in need of financing.

According to the Tejarat Bank CEO, such financial instruments can not only strengthen businesses by improving access to finance, but also contribute to more efficient and orderly circulation of capital throughout the economy.

Asgari welcomed Tejarat Bank’s approach and expressed hope that expanded bilateral cooperation would enable Iran’s Customs Administration to make greater use of the bank’s modern financial and banking services across various areas of customs and trade activity.
