Iran, Turkmenistan Urged to Strengthen Banking Ties

Iran has stressed the need to strengthen banking cooperation with Turkmenistan following a review of the latest developments in financial relations between the two countries.

Mahdi Heidari, Iran’s deputy economy minister and head of the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI), visited the Ashgabat branch of Bank Saderat Iran (BSI) on the sidelines of the Turkmenistan Investment Forum, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance’s Shada news service.

During the visit, Heidari met with the branch manager to discuss the latest developments in bilateral banking relations, emerging trends in financial transactions, ways to facilitate banking and foreign exchange operations, and opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions also addressed operational challenges facing the branch, including technical limitations, communication barriers, and certain administrative and operational obstacles affecting banking interactions.

Participants examined potential solutions and discussed ways to improve banking cooperation and facilitate financial transactions between Iran and Turkmenistan.

Heidari also met with branch employees and underscored the branch’s role in strengthening banking relations between the two countries.
