TEHRAN — Sarakhs and Dogharoun have the potential to emerge as major hubs for regional trade, transit and economic activity due to their strategic locations and proximity to neighboring countries, the secretary of Iran’s High Council of Free Zones and Special Economic Zones said.
Iran has called for lower export costs, streamlined trade procedures, and faster development of the Dogharoun Free Zone, as officials seek to leverage the strategic border crossing with Afghanistan to expand trade and attract investment to Razavi Khorasan Province and eastern Iran.
