According to SHADA, Faroud Asgari, Iran's deputy economy minister and head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), and Thamer Qasim Dawood, the Iraqi director-general of customs, discussed measures to facilitate cross-border trade and strengthen customs coordination between the two neighboring countries.

Key topics included expanding joint border controls, accelerating the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the temporary admission of vehicles, enhancing electronic data exchange, and providing greater customs facilitation for businesses and economic operators engaged in bilateral trade.

The two officials also explored plans for joint inspections of border customs posts to improve operational coordination, expedite the movement of trucks carrying export and transit goods across shared border crossings, and streamline customs clearance and other trade procedures.

The meeting underscored both countries' determination to deepen customs cooperation as part of broader efforts to enhance economic ties and expand trade flows between Iran and Iraq.
