Economy Minister: Pezeshkian Pursues Economic Reforms with Courage and Consensus-Building

TEHRAN – Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance has described President Masoud Pezeshkian's approach to economic reforms, highlighting "courage in decision-making," "consensus-building," and "attention to people's livelihoods" as the president's key leadership traits.

Seyed Ali Madanizadeh, in an interview with the Communications and Information Office of the Presidential Administration, emphasized that Pezeshkian believes economic reforms must be carried out — but that such reforms should be grounded in expert analysis, attention to implementation details, and minimization of costs borne by the public.

The economy minister underscored the importance of data-driven governance, stating: "One of the primary missions of the Ministry of Economy is to move toward transparency and justice through data-centric approaches. We hope the results will gradually materialize."

Madanizadeh highlighted Pezeshkian's courage in decision-making, noting: "I cannot recall a single government meeting where the president did not emphasize the issue of people's livelihoods. He has consistently insisted on this matter."

Referring to the coincidence of the outbreak of war with his own parliamentary confirmation process, Madanizadeh said: "Despite the high risks, the president insisted that the vote of confidence session be held. His presence in those difficult circumstances gave us renewed energy and morale."

Addressing Pezeshkian's clear vision for reform, the minister added: "He knows exactly what he wants and where we need to go. To achieve this goal, he considers consensus and coordination across the entire governing structure essential."

Madanizadeh further described courage in decision-making as one of the president's defining characteristics: "In every case that has arisen, he has personally intervened and made decisions. He believes that while any decision may carry costs, one must not avoid making decisions out of fear of those costs. Rather, costs must be managed and minimized."
