According to SHADA (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance's news agency), Saad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al Shariff, the Ambassador of Qatar in Tehran, met today with Frouod Asgari, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), to discuss the development of commercial and customs exchanges between Iran and Qatar.
According to this report, the Head of IRICA condemned the attack by the Israeli regime on Qatar during the meeting, and referred to the very friendly and close relations with Qatar, stating: "The Customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran pursues the development of customs relations with Qatar in three main areas: the electronic exchange of data, the facilitation and acceleration of the entry of Iranian goods into Qatari ports, and holding joint training courses and visits to the customs offices of the two countries."
Asgari added: "The electronic exchange of data before the goods enter the customs of the two countries will facilitate and accelerate the clearance of goods. Furthermore, this action eliminates the need for re-evaluation and re-inspection of goods at the customs offices of both countries."
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Head of IRICA also called for joint training courses and visits by technical teams to the customs offices of the two countries, particularly Bushehr Customs, to facilitate the process of providing customs services between the two countries.
He also requested the lifting of restrictions on the entry of Iranian wooden lenj (traditional wooden boats) into Qatari ports.
The report adds that Saad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al Shariff, the Ambassador of Qatar in Tehran, also thanked Iran for expressing solidarity with the Qatari government following the terrorist attack by the Israeli regime on his country. He then added: "We received important facilitations from Iran's Customs during the period of the blockade, for which I must express my thanks and appreciation for your services."
He continued: "Qatar is ready to develop and facilitate commercial and customs exchanges with Iran, and a technical committee will soon be formed to follow up on the issue of electronic data exchange between the customs offices of the two countries."
The Qatari Ambassador also welcomed joint training courses and visits to the two countries' customs offices. He noted that Iran's Customs cooperation with Qatar in the transit sector has been very good and commendable, and announced the follow-up for the signing of an electronic data exchange document in the near future, emphasizing the need to follow up on all issues raised.
