Iran, Armenia Eye Eurasian Market Through Economic Cooperation

Iran and Armenia are seeking to deepen economic ties with an eye on the Eurasian market. In a recent meeting in Tehran, Grigor Hakobyan, Armenia’s ambassador to Iran, and Reza Masroor, secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones, discussed ways to expand bilateral trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

The talks focused on promoting investment opportunities and drafting joint packages to attract both domestic and foreign investors. Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union was highlighted as a strategic advantage, offering Iranian producers and investors in free zones wider access to regional markets.

Joint production ventures and their distribution across Eurasia were presented as a practical route to boost the two countries’ share in regional trade. The officials also emphasized the importance of organizing joint investment tours and maximizing the use of transit corridors linking Iran and Armenia, particularly the north-south and east-west routes.
