Iran Urges WAIPA to Condemn U.S. and Israeli Military Aggression

The Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI) has sent an official letter to the Executive Director of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), calling for the condemnation of 'illegal attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime' against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to SHADA, Mahdi Heidari, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and President of OIETAI, sent the letter to Ismail Ersahin, Executive Director of WAIPA.

Referring to Iran’s long-standing membership in the association, Heidari described the recent attacks by the U.S. and the Israeli regime as “blatant, illegal, and large-scale military aggression” targeting the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and economic infrastructure.

Part of the letter states: “These attacks are intended to destroy and devastate not only Iran’s development achievements, but also the capital and resources of future generations.”

Recalling Iran’s official membership in WAIPA since 2002, Heidari emphasized: “The Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran has been an official member of WAIPA as the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran since 2002. Over more than two decades, this membership has contributed to the accumulation of valuable technical knowledge and expertise aimed at promoting and facilitating foreign investment in Iran.”

Highlighting the country’s interest in attracting foreign investment, the head of Iran’s Investment Organization wrote: “Iran is strongly pursuing international partnerships and foreign investment—an issue that was emphasized during the meeting between Iran’s high-level delegation and you at the 28th World Investment Conference in Riyadh in 2024.”

Referring to WAIPA’s mission of promoting international economic cooperation and contributing to the development and prosperity of nations—principles recognized in documents such as the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the Sustainable Development Goals—Heidari added: “Therefore, it is expected that the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies will, at the very least, condemn these attacks. This is the minimum action that can be taken within the framework of the organization’s professional responsibilities.”

The letter concluded by emphasizing: “It is certain that, after the end of this war, whenever that may occur, the Iranian nation will once again begin rebuilding its country. In this endeavor, priority will be given to further cooperation with institutions that have maintained their professional integrity and adhered to ethical principles. Consequently, we expect to witness expanded cooperation between Iran and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies.”
