FTZs Play a Key Role in Advancing Development Projects Along Makran Coasts

The economic, commercial, and investment capacities of free trade and special economic zones were discussed in a meeting between Ali Abdolalizadeh and Hossein Forouzan, with a focus on their role in realizing maritime‑oriented development programs and advancing developmental projects along the Makran coast.

According to SHADA News, the meeting examined the potential of free and special economic zones in facilitating maritime‑based development plans and their contribution to the progress of development initiatives in the Makran coastal region.

The representative of the President for the coordination of the implementation of the general policies of maritime‑oriented development, emphasising the strategic significance of the Makran coasts, underscored the necessity of coordinating executive bodies and maximising the utilisation of the economic, commercial, and investment potentials of the coastal areas.

Ali Abdolalizadeh identified the development of infrastructure, attraction of investment, strengthening of the local economy, and the leveraging of maritime capacities as essential requirements for achieving the development objectives of Makran. He called for greater synergy among entities involved in maritime development and the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Free Trade and Special Economic Zones.

Hossein Forouzan, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free Trade and Special Economic Zones, also expressed the readiness of the Council's Secretariat to collaborate in implementing development programs and to harness the capacities of free zones in reinforcing the maritime‑oriented economy.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the need to define joint mechanisms to accelerate the execution of infrastructural, economic, and investment projects, as well as to create conditions for a more active presence of the private sector along the Makran coasts.

The Makran coasts hold a special position within the country's general policies on maritime‑oriented development, and the government has emphasised the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive roadmap for the development of this region, capitalising on its economic and geopolitical potentials.
