Opening the session, Masroor underscored the urgency of bolstering bilateral trade through enhanced cooperation, joint industrial ventures, border commerce, and co-hosted trade exhibitions. He outlined the strategic capacities of Iran’s free trade zones—particularly Chabahar—as compelling opportunities for Pakistani investors, and extended an invitation to visit Iran to explore these prospects firsthand.
Arbabi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to deepening regional economic integration and championed the establishment of a joint free zone, noting that Iran had already allocated the necessary land for the project. He urged Pakistan to take proactive steps toward implementation, describing the initiative as a cornerstone for strategic partnership.
As part of the proposal, Arbabi recommended a memorandum of understanding between the Chabahar Free Zone and ICCI to streamline exhibition logistics and reinforce trade collaboration.
Qureshi welcomed the Iranian delegation’s proposals and emphasized the shared goal of expanding commercial ties. He cited key Pakistani export sectors to Iran—including pharmaceuticals, surgical equipment, sports goods, minerals, pink salt, and IT services—and encouraged Iran to showcase its industrial and cultural assets at the upcoming Islamabad International Industrial Exhibition, scheduled for September.
Beyond the ICCI dialogue, Masroor held targeted meetings with Pakistan’s Deputy Minister of Commerce, the Secretary of the Special Economic Zones Approval Council, and representatives of the country’s Investment Board. The discussions yielded a preliminary agreement to establish a joint free trade zone at the Rimdan-Gabd border point.
