Economy Minister Joins Presidential Delegation to China

Dr Seyed Ali Madanizadeh, Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, departed Tehran for China early on Sunday as part of a high-level delegation led by President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The four-day visit, according to Shada, centres on participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin. In addition to attending the summit, Iranian officials are expected to advance discussions on accelerating the implementation of the 25-year strategic partnership agreement between Tehran and Beijing.
The SCO and its affiliated “Shanghai Plus” summit will convene representatives from over 30 countries. Iranian officials view the gathering as a platform to counteract political and economic isolation and to deepen engagement within the multilateral framework.
As a senior member of the delegation, Dr Madanizadeh is expected to focus on the economic dimensions of the visit, including trade, investment, and financial cooperation.
Before the departure, President Pezeshkian described the trip as a “historic opportunity” to bolster multilateralism, enhance ties with SCO member states, and push back against unilateralism.
