The issue was discussed during a meeting between Hossein Forouzan, Secretary of Iran’s High Council of Free Zones and Special Economic Zones, and Hamid Ghanbari, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy.The officials reviewed progress on establishing the joint Iranian-Turkish free zone and stressed the need to expedite the process of making the economic initiative operational.The proposed zone was highlighted as a mechanism to facilitate and expand bilateral trade, increase cross-border commercial exchanges and strengthen economic cooperation between Iran and Türkiye.The two sides also emphasized the need for closer coordination among relevant government agencies to remove administrative hurdles and accelerate the implementation of the project.The meeting was held as part of Iran’s broader policy of expanding economic diplomacy and leveraging the capacity of free zones to deepen economic ties with neighboring and regional countries.
