Dr. Madanizadeh:
Economic Policymaking Must Move Beyond ‘Sector-Wise Orientation’

The Economy Minister warned that “sector-wise orientation” is a key driver of economic imbalance and vowed to shift policymaking approaches to address the issue.

Speaking at the 130th meeting of the Government-Private Sector Dialogue Council, Dr. Seyed Ali Madanizadeh said, “Economic balance will remain out of reach as long as sector-wise orientation persists.”

Madanizadeh noted that multiple industries -including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, poultry and livestock, energy, and transportation- face recurring crises due to mismatches between consumption and resources, stemming from sector-specific biases in policymaking.
“Unless economic equilibrium and a move away from sector-wise orientation become widely accepted by policymakers, these challenges will persist,” he stressed.
The minister linked the issue to rising bureaucracy and corruption, arguing that such distortions discourage productive investment and stifle efficiency. “As Economy Minister, I am committed to reforming this approach to ensure a sustainable balance between resources and expenditures,” he said.
