Iran’s Deputy Economy Minister Calls for Innovative Investment to Drive Major National Projects

Mehdi Heidari, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and Head of the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran, emphasized the need for an innovative and investor-driven approach to executing large-scale national projects.

Speaking at a meeting with provincial officials and business leaders at the Esfahan Chamber of Commerce, Heidari stated, “Major national projects must be implemented with an economic and innovative mindset, supported by investors and economic institutions.”

He highlighted the organization’s role as a facilitator, connecting domestic and foreign capital to strategic development initiatives.Heidari addressed the economic challenges, urging stakeholders to “broaden the scope of the problem, think realistically and operationally, and embed financial structures with an economic perspective into these projects.”

He stressed that a project becomes truly viable when stakeholders are willing to invest their own resources.Heidari noted Iran’s pressing need for infrastructure such as roads and dams, but cautioned that adequate funding is essential for their realization

. He distinguished development and investment, explaining that while infrastructure and security are government responsibilities, investors and entrepreneurs view these areas through the lens of profitability.“

We must approach projects with an economic mindset and actively seek investors,” Heidari said, adding that the organization will exert every effort within its capacity.
