Foroud Asgari stated that non-oil exports grew by 14%, while customs revenues rose by 34%. He added that new policies aimed at reducing bureaucratic procedures and accelerating goods clearance to within three days are now being pursued.
Speaking to the Shada website, Asgari presented a performance report for the previous year, noting: “Iran’s customs registered trade transactions worth $129 billion. Of this, $59 billion came from non-oil exports, marking a 14% increase year-on-year. Imports totalled $71 billion, up 4% compared to the same period last year.”
He further highlighted that Iranian Customs handled 21 million tonnes of goods, a 2% increase from the previous year. Revenues reached 352 trillion tomans, reflecting improvements in financial oversight and operational efficiency.
New policies and trade facilitation
According to Asgari, Iranian Customs has introduced new measures to streamline foreign trade, under the guidance of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
He announced efforts to reduce customs formalities, stating: “By leveraging provisions in the Customs Affairs Law, clearance procedures have been simplified and are expected to be reduced to three days, in coordination with relevant agencies.”
