Iran and Armenia Collaborate to Enhance Export Facilitation

Reza Taghizadeh, manager of Norduz customs, emphasized the necessity of increasing the volume of commercial carriers processed by Meghri Customs at the outset of the meeting. He noted that improving truck movement would significantly reduce costs and clearance delays for exports to Armenia.

During discussions, both Iranian and Armenian delegations identified existing obstacles and proposed measures to expedite border traffic for incoming and outgoing trucks. The head of Armenia's State Revenue and Land Borders Committee highlighted certain limitations, stating, "The lack of staff and infrastructure development at the Meghri terminal are key factors contributing to the slow processing of trucks." He expressed optimism that enhancements to Meghri border customs would ultimately increase its capacity.

The meeting also included participation from the Iranian Consul General in Syunik, the director of the border terminal, and the commander of the Norduz border guard.
