Iran and Turkmenistan explore ways to increase customs cooperation

According to Naqdi, during the meeting: “We held joint border customs meetings to take steps towards facilitating trade through the implementation of targeted measures. To prevent disputes in online data exchange, a joint technical committee will oversee this process.”

Naqdi also highlighted plans for joint training courses aimed at streamlining trade operations: “Another key issue was planning collaborative training initiatives to lay the groundwork for increasing trade volume between our countries.”

Reflecting on recent progress, he noted that trade has become smoother: “Given our capacities, we aim to further expand trade. In terms of foreign transit, Turkmenistan’s borders are crucial for transit goods, and we must eliminate obstacles so that, in accordance with our agreements, we can facilitate an increase in trade volume.”

The Turkmenistan official echoed these sentiments: “Currently, customs relations between our countries are at a good level, and work is progressing well within the framework of existing agreements.”

Bayryev emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations as trade volumes grow: “As trade exchanges increase, it is essential to enhance cooperation between both sides to combat customs violations and smuggling.”

He concluded by expressing optimism about the future trajectory: “Trade exchanges have become smoother recently, and we hope this positive trend will continue.”
